Personally I think the study is flawed for two reasons:

1. Foot technology at the time wasn't as sophisticated as today. Today we have identified a series of injuries and given names to them. The injuries were probably unheard of 50 years ago. So there weren't statistics of course. And probably there were many unreported cases of injuries because of the lack of knowledge in this area.

2. This was a study of perception rather than science. It doesn't even outline injuries with potential causes from running posture, impact on ground and runners' weight.

I will stick to my shoes no matter how much people crap about and disagree with wearing shoes. Running barefoot will still have a higher risk of injuries than wearing shoes.

Alden - agree with you. On tar roads it's best to use proper running shoes and kaki ayam is for natural surfaces, not for hard tar roads.
