PRAYER FOR THE SARAWAK STATE ELECTIONS

“Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty—He is the King of glory.” Psalm 27:9-10 (NIV)

Father God, we commit the upcoming Sarawak state elections to You. We pray for the proper and smooth running of the whole election process.

Guide the workforce overseeing the whole electoral process. May they discharge their duties properly and guard against all corrupt practices. Expose and foil all underhand attempts to influence the outcome of the elections.

Bring to naught all unethical attempts to intimidate and coerce voters. Let all spiritual forces of darkness assigned to create chaos be nullified in Jesus’ Name.

We commend every single electoral candidate to You. Even as You are the God who searches the heart of Man and from whom nothing is hidden, we pray for the right candidates to be put into positions of power. Let those who are chosen carry within them a fear of You, an unwavering sense of integrity and a deep commitment to serve their constituents without bias or preference.

We pray for a good turnout of eligible voters. Change wrong mind-sets that prevent them from voting responsibly for righteousness. Convict the hearts of voters who are apathetic towards the election process.

Let law and order be upheld throughout the whole campaigning period, the actual polling day and the transition period. Nullify the attempts of irresponsible groups who try to garner support by stirring communal emotions.

Cause the churches of Sarawak to unite and to intercede for the elections. May the Christian community be reminded of the need to keep their eyes fixed on Christ and not on man. Let this state election be a catalyst in reviving the Church of Sarawak.

Father, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in Sarawak. This we pray through our Lord Jesus Christ.

AMEN.
