Don't mess with grandma

GRANDMA IN COURT...!

Lawyers should never ask grandmas a question if
they aren’t prepared or the answer!

In a trial, a small-town
prosecuting attorney called
his first witness, an elderly grandmother to the stand.
He approached her and asked; "Mrs. Jones, do you know
me?"

She responded, "Why
, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams.
I've known you since you were a young boy, and frankly,
you're a big disappointment to me.. You lie, cheat on
your wife, manipulate people and talk about them
behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when
you haven't the brains to realize you never will amount
to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes,
I know you.."

The lawyer
was stunned! Not knowing what else to do,
he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Jones,
do you know the defense attorney (the opponent's
lawyer)?"

She again
replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known
Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster. He's lazy,
bigoted, and has a drinking problem. He can't build a
normal relationship with anyone and his law practice
is one of the worst in the state. Not to mention he
cheated on his wife with three different women. One of
them was your wife. ..
Yes I know him."

The defense attorney almost died.

The judge asked both lawyers to approach the bench

and in a quiet voice said: "If either of you rascals asks
her if she knows me, I'll send you to jail for contempt
of court !!!

A shaolin hair cut?

Before going back for CNY, I visited my usual barber, told him "kasih pendek pendek semua". With eyes opened bigger than usual, he looked at me and asked "betul ah? no.1?", just to be sure as there's no turning back once his cutter goes to work.

It was the fastest haircut I ever had...less than 5min!Didn't have many photos of my near botak head except from Serapi climb with Michelle & uncle.

But I still remember my botak head 6 years ago after a cranium surgery. Back then I looked like a cross between a shaolin monk & Frankenstein.

Surgery???? Why? What happened?

Ok, let me tell you my story...I'll keep it short & sweet.

2005...before CNY...meeting in PJ...after lunch, I felt severe pain on my head, left side and fainted. Went into seizure. Grateful to have colleagues who helped stabilise me & brought me to Assunta Hospital.

I had what they call brain aneurysm. Click to find out what it is...

1 month later, brain surgery...
3hrs surgery, 39 stitches or maybe it should be called staples instead. You'll see what I mean in the close up photos. 3...39...house number in Kuching is 339! Coincidence? Hmm...
My car plate is 336...1 number upside down. But I'll leave that for my marathon target time, 3hr36min...hahaha!

Ok, back to the topic...Surgery was to clip the burst blood vessel, preventing another burst at the same place.

Close up photos below.
Warning : do not view with a full stomach...hahaha!

Here, I looked rather fat. Well, the left side of my head did swell up afte the surgery, Normal la...
But at that time, I've not done any long distance multisports...no marathons...no triathlons...no ironman. So I was not on the lean side. :PScary huh...

Why and how did it happen?
Well, I call it a call from the Almighty
Click above to find out. I blogged about it back in 2008.
It's only now you see the photos. Sorry for the delay :)

Now 2011, I'm happy to be alive! Thank God! He gave me a 2nd chance. I'm still eating, sleeping, talking, smiling, laughing, walking, running, cycling, swimming, hiking...and many more.
In fact, I enjoy life more than before, discovering so many wonders God has given to us. Always grateful to the Lord! Amen!

Live life to the fullest!

Peace be with you, brother & sisters!

Ok, on a different note, the movie Shaolin starring Andy Lau, Jackie Chan & Nicholas Tse had Andy Lau having the shaolin hair cut as well. Yes, just for the movie. In fact, he was filmed cutting his own hair. Dramatic! (that's 1 reason I did the haircut also la...hehehe)Too bad Jackie Chan decided not to follow suit, which is why he had a headgear throughout the movie.I can understand why Andy Lau had a headgear in this photo. It's cold!
Yes, our head can disperse up to 30% of our body heat. So, less hair, less ability to retain heat. I feet a nice cooling sensation when I run with minimal hair. Hmm...does this qualify me for minimalist runner? Hahaha!

On another note, you save water, shampoo, hair cream or gel or wax. Save time drying up after shower. Save time without combing hair. :P

It's been 3 weeks since that haircut and I feel the botak cooling system is warming up even on 1cm length.

Hmm....

Dear Friend in the Lord,

Personal Love for Jesus: In today’s Gospel, Jesus is more interested in what we personally think of Him and whether our relationship with Him enhances our daily living or not. Each time we allow Jesus to be our model, we grow in faith, hope and love for Him. How much do you love Jesus?

Cinder-ella

Before CNY, another 2 wheeler stayed at my place. No, not somebody but something. Yes, something...a 2 wheeler...a bicycle...a mountain bike to be exact...yes!

It's a Kona Cinder Cone, which I fondly call Cinder-ella. :D

Bought it over from a friend who lost his interest in MTB. He let go at a friendly price. Thank you!!!

I only had a chance to test it on road before CNY. Back from Kuching, off road it went. My MTB uncle came over to KL for a week and that means introducing him to MTB trails. Took him to FRIM and Putrajaya Taman Cabaran. Of course, a preview of Kiara as well.

At FRIM, I went for an off road brick, trail run & ride together with Michelle. My uncle was testing out Cinder-ella. He had no problem riding up both Steroid hill and Helipad lungbuster! Salute to him la...already 60yrs+ and still as fit as a 20year old!
Cinder-ella is back in action after I got it serviced, replaced handle rubber grips with Merida, cables and a Shimano chain.

MTB uncle will be in KL in May and have made appointment with more intense rides in Kiara. Oh man, I'm gonna have lung busting rides! Hahaha!

Dear Friend in the Lord,

Blindness – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus cured the blind man at Bethsaida. We are reminded that when Jesus cures He also liberates us from our emotional baggage as well as our spiritual bondage of the bad spirits. Always place our total trust in the Lord.

This Chinese New Year had more fireworks and firecrackers everywhere in hometown Kuching. The midnite session was around 45min before heavy rain poured down at 1230am. Thank God for clearing the choking smoke and silencing the cracking sound so we could have a peaceful night's sleep.

Went back hometown a little earlier this year so that Michelle won't miss the local delicacies...kolo mee, laksa, beef noodle, belacan bee hoon, sio bee, cendol...yummylicious!! :P
Was back on Sunday before CNY. Uncle MTB picked us up on Monday morning for a training session up Mount Serapi. Drizzled on our journey to the park HQ but uncle know it will stop and if we have decided to sleep in, it would be a big regret! Haha! He was right!

A misty morning with gentle draft as we jogged up Serapi while uncle zoomed off on his MTB. We jogged a bit while the rest of the way up was a brisk walk.
At the communication station, the view was fantastic. Clouds shrouded the lower parts and it appeared as if rolling waves were splashing on the hills. After some nice photoshots, it was time to head down for breakfast...kolo mee at the red bridge. No idea why it was named as such but perhaps the metal bridge rusted and the red hues gave its name.Mountain on the background is Mount Santubong. Was supposed to scale it but the sky poured every morning, meaning we tucked in bed till 8am and 9am at times :)

CNY celebration was the usual visiting and eating and drinking and sleeping.

Swim bike run

I miss triathlon...swim bike run...I truly miss it!

This country is not having enough of it. In fact, the number of triathlons is shrinking. Langkawi Ironman is gone. Putrajaya Half Ironman was a 1 hit wonder. I started in A Famosa back in 2007 and that has also disappeared.

Sad to say, the Triathlon Association of Malaysia has been hibernating for donkey years. What is the president doin?!?!?! And the ministry of youth and sports don't show any interest in this multisport. Is that Datuk who...playing golf?? Sad sad sad...

Luckily there's Chan Chee Seng which we fondly call Uncle Chan. He has been putting tireless efforts organising triathlons in PD, Kenyir, Desaru and Miri (which I heard has been "hijacked" by another organiser)

The upcoming long awaited for will be in Kenyir on 10 April 2011

Looking forward to that!

The only downside is the journey there...long 5-6hrs drive... :(
